COLMAN POOL RENOVATION

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

ORB Architects was chosen by Seattle Parks & Recreation to perform a condition assessment of the Colman Pool, Seattle's only outdoor saltwater pool located in West Seattle's Lincoln Park. The assessment of the pool determined the extent of upgrades needed. ORB provided cost estimating, design, and construction administration services for the pool's improvements.

The project essentially involved the rebuilding of the pool shell, utility tunnel, gutter, and perimeter deck. Due to the historical nature of the 1941 Olympic size pool and the salt water content of the pool, a very unique approach and many custom details were implemented.

ORB's in depth knowledge of pool systems and structure was vital to the successful construction of the structural and mechanical upgrades. The renovated Colman Pool re-opened on schedule on June 30, 2012.
