ORB Architects worked with Spokane Valley Parks and
Recreation Department to provide design and construction services for
the remodel of three existing outdoor pools:
Valley Mission, Park Road and Terrace View. The city wanted to increase
attraction to its three pools without sacrificing instructional or
swim meet capabilities.
ORB created multiple outdoor pool concepts and presented them at a series
of public meetings, including one city-wide
meeting for community input and consideration. The overall concept was unanimously
approved. Construction began in 2008 and was completed in time for
the start of the 2009 swim season.
City of Spokane held a naming contest for the new three-story slide at Park Road Pool.
Nicole Livingston proposed the winning name—The Park Pool Plunge—and christened the
new slide by being the first person to take the plunge.
